ABOUT PERFORMING ENSEMBLES
MARCHING BAND
Wildcats
The Lake Norman High School Wildcats is the largest performing group associated with the Lake Norman High School Bands program. The band performs at all varsity football games, at least three North Carolina Bandmasters-sanctioned competitions, plus regionals and state – if qualified, parades, and occasional guest appearances. The marching band is open to any band or color guard student.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Band rehearsals normally begin in early to mid-March with a full week camp for the entire band prior to the fall semester.
Throughout football season, rehearsals will be held after school. Tuesday and Thursday evenings rehearsals are held at the High School.
CONCERT BANDS
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Symphony is made up of the most musically and technically advanced students. Any band member in grades 9-12 are allowed into Wind Symphony, by audition only. Performances include several concerts and Regional and State competitions. In addition, the Wind Symphony may perform at one or more festivals. Members of the Wind Symphony are asked to participate in Honor Band tryouts and to participate in our private lesson program.
CONCERT BANDS
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is comprised of students with above-average musical and technical skills. Performances include several concerts and Regional and State competitions. Members of the Symphonic Band are encouraged to participate in Honor Band tryouts and to aggressively participate in our private lesson program.

Concert Band
The Concert Band is comprised of students in grades 9-12 that have not yet developed the skills required for the other ensembles. Performances include all school concerts. Members of the Concert Band are strongly encouraged to participate in Honor Band tryouts and to aggressively participate in our private lesson program.
